Operations Manager - Bookkeeper

Summary:

Our small and rapidly growing art and design company, The Mincing Mockingbird, is looking for an experienced Operations Manager/Bookkeeper who has a forward-looking, growth-oriented mind-set to manage our casual and creative business. Our fun and unique products (books, journals, art, greeting cards and more) are sold in stores, galleries and in museum stores across the country. We’re looking for someone who can ensure smooth day-to-day operations and drive positive changes throughout the company as it continues to grow and expand.

Responsibilities:

Operations:

  • Manage 4-6 employees within the Assembly, Shipping, and Sales Departments. Work with Sales Manager to ensure orders are processed within target deadlines and sales rep agencies. Ensure assembly projects are prepared based on demand
  • Set and monitor product production schedule using Asana
  • Prepare POs for new products and reorders using sales velocity reports to ensure inventory is in stock and limit overstock
  • Request quotes for new products and negotiate target cost with manufacturers
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory using Stitchlabs
  • Create sales reports analyzing areas of growth and decline for review
  • Responsibility for file management and maintenance (digital and paper)

Bookkeeping:

  • Day-to-day bookkeeping (AR/AP, bank reconciliations, accurate weekly/monthly reporting for principals)
  • Send payroll information to outside payroll company
  • Develop accounting routines to support daily operations
  • Payment of sales reps and maintaining accurate sales rep reports
  • File accurate sales tax returns

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Minimum of Associates Degree and Bookkeeper Certification
  • 3+ years of bookkeeping experience within consumer goods
  • 3+ years of management experience in a similar role
  • Stellar clerical skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Effective multi-tasking
  • Time management expertise
  • Self-starter with a hands-on attitude, capable of clear communication
  • A commitment to learning and growing professionally
  • Ability to demonstrate good business judgment and understanding of company's risk criteria and tolerance
  • MAC OS proficient
  • Quickbooks Online and Microsoft office
  • Expertise with Dropbox, Asana, Mailchimp and Stitch a bonus
