Operations Majordomo

If you are looking for a unique leadership position at a fast-growing company that lives and breathes creativity, look no further. Our products and designs have appeared in movies, books, boutiques, museum stores, memes, and everywhere in between. Located in North Hollywood, The Mincing Mockingbird has been artist-owned since its inception in 2007. We have always cheekily agreed with Andy Warhol’s opinion that “Being good in business is the most fascinating kind of art…good business is the best art.” We’re looking for an amiable and hardworking Operations Manager to help us achieve the art of “good business.”

If you’re interested, here’s what Year One is all about. For someone who likes to see immediate results and enjoys making a real, observable difference, this job will be just what you’re looking for:

•       Restructure company-wide sales operations from the top down: develop new systems, improve existing systems, and find fresh and innovative ways to help the company achieve its true potential.

•       Wield your HR magic to improve recruiting, hiring, administration, and training of personnel.

•       Team up with our Inventory Manager to develop and implement a product scanning system to streamline order pulling and shipping by the start of the upcoming holiday season.

•       Lead the creation and development of a lean, mean sales department for a company that has never had one.

•       Re-plumb the product pipeline, working with in-house artists and designers—as well as a variety of domestic and international manufacturers—to simplify and improve the process of turning thumbnail sketches into reality.

•       Keep vendors, licensors, and manufacturers happy by getting them paid on time and to the penny. Using eye-catching graphs and charts to dazzle the artist-owners, prepare a monthly financial analysis and reporting package that identifies what’s really happening across the company.

•       Assist with the launch of an exciting new international subsidiary.

If you can accomplish what is listed above, you’ve got what it takes. Realistically, we need someone who has tangible experience in management, operations management, and leadership. We are very proud of our company; it has survived a major recession and a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic, thanks to our incredible employees and passionate fans. If you can pull off what we are asking, we can promise a workplace that puts real value on positivity, inclusivity, kindness, and a strict “no-A-hole” policy. That’s in addition to healthy bonuses for great performance, 50% of health insurance premiums, and a 401K with 4% matching.

$75,000—$85,000
